General Meeting Minutes September 11, 2023
Called to order at 6:06 pm
Opening Pray by Susan Witt
Texas Street Art Festival – Todd Witt
Murals. Luis is in Mineola; Ivan is in Winnsboro. All other artist will be here by Saturday the 16th.
Saturday the 16th opening presentation at the Lake Country Theater in Mineola at 3:00 pm to reveal all designs. Followed by the installation of the Smoke Shop Mural. There will be several artist dinners throughout the county during the week.
Todd stated that Wood County Walls is Fully Funded for next year! Next year’s festival will be in October.
The Dairy Queen Mural will not be done t this time. The action figures are available for another location to be determined.
Iron Horse Festival is Saturday the 23rd from 10am to 4pm. Please come and check out the Art Booth with Wendy Kirk and Sara Molano. The Skate Club will also have a booth with skaters and will be manned by Susan and Nathan Witt.
Skate Park – Chuck Desmond
We will be hosting a week called Spark in October with a work schedule for things that need to be done. He has received updated drawings and is still in need of several resources. Volunteer work days will be announced. Activities will include getting current fences removed. Clean up of the area, removing old plywood and forms, adding new construction fencing and signage for safety. Next step is a dirt contractor. Sean of the South – Lee Desmond
The event will be December 3rd at the Mineola Civic Center at 4:00 pm. Ticket sales have been steady. Please continue to promote as all proceeds go to F&S projects.
Game Club - Aaron Cavitt
Currently meeting at What-A-Burger on Thursdays from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm for ages 13 and up. Currently looking for a new location.
Art House – Todd Witt
Work is happening, still looking for an electrician. Contact Todd Witt. The City of Mineola is currently working on the rear of the building and assessing other needs.
Additional Clubs – Susan Witt
Skate Club, Disc Golf, Girls Club will be meeting throughout the year.
Promise Of Peace Garden possible addition of gardening club to be started I the near future. Hopefully we can add home school groups as well.
